Heather Meeker is an attorney in private practice at Greenberg Traurig, LLP, where she is the chair of the Intellectual Property/Information Technology Licensing and Transactions practice group, and specializes in drafting and negotiating intellectual property transactions for software and other technology clients. She served as an adjunct professor at Hastings College of the Law, teaching a seminar in intellectual property licensing, for which this textbook was developed, and at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, teaching a seminar in software licensing.
Ms. Meeker is the author of The Open Source Alternative (Wiley 2008) and is an in ternationally renowned expert on open source licensing law. She was named one of the top 30 Intellectual Property lawyers in California in 2005 by the Daily Journal, and has received many honors in the legal field. She is a member of the American Law Institute.
Ms. Meeker has degrees with honors from Yale College and Boalt Hall School of Law. She clerked for United States Circuit Judge John Porfilio of the Tenth Circuit. Ms. Meeker has published numerous law review articles and practice-oriented articles in the area of law and technology. Prior to her work as an attorney, she worked for many years in the entertainment and computer industries.
