LeAnn Shelton, AIA, is General Counsel and Director of Business Affairs of Rockwell Group, New York, NY, an international, multi-disciplinary firm whose services encompass architecture, interior design, product design, set design, branding and strategy, interactive media, and cultural development. Ms. Shelton provides strategic legal and business guidance on a wide range of matters, including intellectual property, professional standards of care, land use, code compliance, and construction litigation.
A graduate of Columbia University Law School, Ms. Shelton began her professional career as a lawyer, specializing in land use and real estate litigation. She returned to Columbia a few years later to earn a Masters in Architecture, which brought her to the field of urban design. As an Associate Partner at several prominent design firms, she engaged her unique skill set to lead large-scale projects such as the Coney Island Redevelopment Plan and the Apollo Performing Arts Center. Ms. Shelton served as the Architect Member of the New York City Public Design Commission (formerly the Art Commission) from 2003-2006, and is now on the Executive Committee of the Friends of the Art Commission. She recently completed a ten-year term as a Commissioner on the New York City Loft Board, the agency charged with overseeing the conversion of manufacturing buildings, some of which are used as artist live-work spaces, into code-compliant residences.
Ms. Shelton is Chair of the Arts and Museums Division of the ABA Sport and Entertainment Industries Forum.
