ANDREA C. CHOMAKOS is an associate in the law firm Moore & Van Allen, PLLC, based in the Charlotte (N.C.) office. Her primary areas of emphasis are estate planning, business planning, and tax planning for closely held businesses and their owners. She received her B.A. from the University of Michigan (1993), her J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy (1997), and her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University (2001). Ms. Chomakos previously worked for a national accounting firm in taxation servicing corporate and individual clients, including several publicly traded corporations, their executives, and a professional sports franchise.
Ms. Chomakos co-authored "The 2001 Tax Act: Unchartered Waters for Estate Planners" published in Probate and Property, September 2002, and republished in "The Best Articles Published by the ABA," GP Solo, March 2002. She is a frequent speaker at professional conferences on topics such as "Exercise Stock Options with Power," "Limited Liability Companies in North Carolina," and "Federal Taxation of Partnerships in North Carolina." Ms. Chomakos is admitted to practice law in the states of Michigan and North Carolina.
