Mark A. Borges is a principal with Compensia, Inc., a national management consulting firm providing executive compensation advisory services to compensation committees and senior management of knowledge-based and other companies. He is a frequent writer and speaker on SEC executive compensation disclosure issues.
Prior to joining Compensia, Borges was a principal with Mercer in Washington, D.C., where he provided assistance and advice to the firm's consultants and clients regarding legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments affecting executive compensation. Prior to Mercer, he was a Special Counsel in the Office of Rulemaking, Division of Corporation Finance with the SEC. Previously, Borges was General Counsel for ShareData, Inc., the leading provider of soft ware for employee stock plan administration, prior to its acquisition by E*TRADE Group, Inc. in 1998.
Borges practiced law with the fi rms of Ware & Friedenrich (now DLA Piper) and Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP), specializing in equity compensation and insider trading matters as well as venture capital finance.
A California native, Borges graduated from Humboldt State University and went on to receive his J.D. from Santa Clara University and an L.L.M. in Taxation from New York University. He is a member of the American Bar Association.
