Anthony R. La Ratta, Esquire, is a Partner in the Litigation Department of Archer & Greiner, A Professional Corporation. He is also a member of the firm's Estate and Trust Litigation Group. He concentrates his practice in the area of commercial litigation, with an emphasis in litigation involving probate matters, estates, trusts, guardianships, and fiduciaries.
Tony has represented institutions and individuals in a variety of contexts, including banks, corporate fiduciaries, executors, trustees, beneficiaries of estates and trusts, incapacitated persons, surviving spouses, and intestate heirs, and has handled cases involving will contests, undue influence, diminished capacity, contested guardianships, breach of fiduciary duty, and accountings of estates and trusts.
In 1996, Tony received his law degree from Villanova University School of Law. At Villanova, he was a member and editor of the Villanova Environmental Law Journal. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Communication from La Salle University, graduating Maxima Cum Laude, the highest honors awarded by the university.
He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as well as the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He previously served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Joseph C. Visalli (Ret.), Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, Cape May County.
Tony has authored several published articles and has lectured on trust and estate issues on the radio and for the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Estate and Financial Planning Council, and the Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester County Bar Associations.
He is also a member of the American, New Jersey State, Burlington County, Camden County, Cape May County, and Gloucester County Bar Associations and the Justinian Society. He is a member of the probate committees in Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester Counties, and is the Co-Chair of the Chancery and Probate Committee of the Cape May County Bar Association. He has been admitted by the State of New Jersey to the roster of court-approved mediators for probate cases.
Tony is a member of the Estate and Financial Planning Council of Southern New Jersey, and presently serves as its President. He is currently the Co-Vice Chair of the Probate & Fiduciary Litigation Committee of the ABA Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law. He also serves on the By-Laws Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association, as well as the La Salle University Communication Department Alumni Advisory Board.
In August 2010, the New Jersey Law Journal named Tony to its prestigious “40 under 40” list, an honor bestowed on 40 promising young professionals in New Jersey’s legal community. In April 2011, he was recognized by his peers as one of the Super Lawyers 2011 New Jersey Rising Stars in the area of Estate and Trust Litigation.
