Bio

Peter Kochenburger is the Executive Director of the Insurance Law Center and Director of Graduate Programs at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he teaches courses in insurance and consumer law. He is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School and was Counsel at Travelers Property Casualty for eleven years. At Travelers he managed significant coverage and bad faith litigation, as well as legislative and regulatory affairs across a spectrum of subjects, including workers compensation, OSHA, guaranty funds, tort reform, antitrust, and environmental issues. Prior to his work at Travelers, he spent four and a half years as an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division of Iowa's Department of Justice, where he enforced state and federal consumer credit laws and litigated with numerous financial services companies. From 1986-88 he served as Special Assistant to the Dean of Harvard Law School. Mr. Kochenburger has served as an expert witness on various insurance disputes and consults regularly with insurers and policyholders.
