John Pratt obtained his law degree from Oxford University and undertook a doctorate in Comparative Law at the Universite d’Aix Marseille.
John Pratt is a partner of Hamilton Pratt a niche franchise law firm in the United Kingdom.His practice is entirely devoted to franchising, including advising start up franchisors, international franchising, advising on intellectual property issues, relating to franchising, buying and selling franchisor and franchisee businesses and providing commercial advice on all aspects of the legal requirements of a franchisor. He has spoken and written extensively in these fields. He has served as chair of the Union International des Avocats Franchise Committee and also as chair of the International Bar Association’s International Franchising Committee. He is the author of “Franchising: Law & Practice” and the Franchisor’s Handbook as well as a contributor to numerous other publications on franchising. Mr Pratt is a past Legal Advisor to the British Franchise Association and is currently a member of the European Franchise Federation’s Legal Committee. He serves as director of the International Franchise & Distribution Division of the ABA.
