As a 20-year partner and head of new associate development in the Dallas office of Jones Day for many years, Martin mentored and coached associate lawyers for effectiveness with both work products and professional relationships. In his current role as Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the SMU Dedman School of Law, Martin teaches, inspires and motivates future lawyers in their chosen career paths. During his private practice prior to his current position, he was selected among the The Best Lawyers in America and Texas Super Lawyers in Real Estate Law. He is a frequent speaker on topics of associate training and development and attorney ethics. He is also the author of the children's book Why Alligators Don't Have Wings, as well as Life on the High Wire, Faith and a Man's Search for Balance. He was one of twelve authors for the book, 365 Meditations for Men.
