Bill Scheiderich has worked as house counsel to various Oregon cities and service districts since 1980. He has prepared final orders in innumerable land use decisions for review by a state executive agency and state appellate courts. He has also defended other local government decisions in state and federal trial and appellate court proceedings including writs of review, declaratory judgement and mandamus. He was adjunct faculty to Eastern- and Western Oregon University teaching municipal law to police and fire service professionals. He has served as chair of a regional water supply board and chair a fire district civil service commission. He has been active with the ABA's State and Local Government Section since 1995, serving as section budget officer, member of the governing Council and as forthcoming chair of the publications oversight board. He is co-editor of the ABA Eminent Domain Handbook (2011) and the editor of the ABA Municipal Law Deskbook (2015). From 2017 he has been the Editor of the Section's quarterly newsletter, State and Local Law News.
